Same Old Tirade
I thought I’d figure out what my purpose is when I hit 20 something. I thought I’d understand what life means. I thought I was supposed to accept the bitterness and the happiness and the sadness life has to offer. I thought I was supposed to feel at least content with what I’ve got. I thought lost things were supposed to be found one day if I keep believing in it. I thought I was...

House
I
Gregg House: I choose to believe that the white light people sometimes see... they're all just chemical reactions that take place when the brain shuts down.... There's no conclusive science. My choice has no practical relevance to my life, I choose the outcome I find more comforting.... I find it more comforting to believe that this isn't simply a test.
II
Gregg House: Right and wrong do exist. Just because you don't know what the right answer is — maybe there's even no way you could know what the right answer is — doesn't make your answer right or even okay. It's much simpler than that. It's just plain wrong.
III
Gregg House: There's an evolutionary imperative why we give a crap about our family and friends. And there's an evolutionary imperative why we don't give a crap about anybody else. If we loved all people indiscriminately, we couldn't function.

Pascal’s Principle of Convergence
Source: Harper’s Magazine. Note: I didn’t write the article, I just reblog it.
“That Pascal’s theory of convergence emerges from his examination of Descartes and a series of Cartesian mathematical principles is revealed by this manuscript page on which the original appears. It is scribbled, with emendations, in the midst of a discussion of Cartesian texts. But the profundity...

Two Cents on Feminism and Female Rivalry
Two topics that have been on my mind for the past two weeks.
I support feminism, but why is it if a man prioritizes woman, women consider him as a good feminist, but when a woman prioritizes man, they call us anti-feminist? Do feminist have the tendency to be misogynist themselves? Is this another common contradiction in society? Or are we all basically a misantrophe on the inside? Because...

Watchmen
Adrian Veidt: It's your super powers retreating from war. I've saved the Earth from hell. We both have. This is as much your victory as it is mine. Now we can return. Do what we were meant to.
Rorschach: We were meant to exact justice! Everyone's gonna know what you've done.
Adrian Veidt: Will they? By exposing me, you would sacrifice the peace so many died for today.
Dan Dreiberg: Peace based on a lie.
Adrian Veidt: But peace! Nonetheless.
Jon Osterman: He's right. Exposing Adrian would only doom the world to Nuclear destruction again.
Laurie Juspeczyk: No, we can't do this.
Jon Osterman: On Mars, you taught me the value of life. If we hope to preserve it here, we must remain silent.
Rorschach: [Walks out] Never compromise. Not even in the face of Armageddon. That's always been the difference between us, Daniel.
Adrian Veidt: I've made myself feel every death, see every innocent face I've murdered to save humanity. You understand, don't you?
Jon Osterman: Without condoning or condemning. I understand.
Rorschach: [Outside, in the snow, Rorscach comes across a copy of Jon standing in the snow] People have to be told.
Jon Osterman: You know I can't let you do that.
Rorschach: Suddenly you discover humanity. Convenient. [Takes off his mask] If you'd cared from the start, none of this would've happened.
Jon Osterman: I can change almost anything. But I can't change human nature.
Rorschach: Of course, you must protect Veidt's new Utopia. One more body amongst foundations makes little difference. Well, what are you waiting for?

Lindsey Meeks: So you don't have a cell phone, a pager, a blackberry nothing? What if some sudden crisis occurs, like your father has a heart attack or something?
Ben Wrightman: My father died two years ago.
Lindsey Meeks: Oh, I'm sorry.
Ben Wrightman: No, actually I just found out this morning so it's been a rough 24 hours. You know, maybe I should get a cell phone.
Lindsey Meeks: [laughs] You're funny, Ben-
Ben Wrightman: Wrightman. You forgot my last name, didn't you?
Lindsey Meeks: No, I just blanked.
Ben Wrightman: No, I bet when you talk to your friends you call me "Ben the School Teacher".
II
Ben Wrightman: I even made a list of all the things I like about you. I don’t have it with me but I remember what it said. I’ll skip down cause the first seven are all body parts. I love how you talk out of the side of your mouth. It’s like an adorable stroke victim. I love when you all dressed up and look yourself into the mirror and goes like, [shrugging his shoulder], it's so cute, I wanna kill myself.

I'm A Contradiction
The word contradiction is way too familiar these days. It’s in every human, as long as you still have ego, you often contradict yourself. Especially for those who are idealists and perfectionists. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair. Grey's Anatomy
I
Meredith: Pain, you just have to ride it out, hope it goes away on its own, hope the wound that caused it heals. There are no solutions, no easy answers, you just breath deep and wait for it to subside. Most of the time pain can be managed but sometimes the pain gets you where you least expect it. Hits way below the belt and doesn't let up. Pain, you just have to fight through, because the truth is you can't outrun it and life always makes more.
II
Meredith: There's something to be said about a glass half full. About knowing when to say when. I think it's a floating line. A barometer of need and desire. It's entirely up to the individual. And depends on what's being poured. Sometimes all we want is a taste. Other times there's no such thing as enough, the glass is bottomless. And all we want, is more.
III
Meredith: Maybe we're not supposed to be happy. Maybe gratitude has nothing to do with joy. Maybe being grateful means recognizing what you have for what it is. Appreciating small victories. Admiring the struggle it takes to simply be human. Maybe, we're thankful for the familiar things we know. And maybe we're thankful for the things we'll never know. At the end of the day, the fact that we have the courage to still be standing is reason enough to celebrate.

There is something soothing about love. There is also something fucked up about life. But there is something joyful about laughter. These three go together, we can not separate them, we can not live our life without them. They are the perfect antidote in one’s mind. Each body would produce different kind of chemicals. All different type of reactions; a chain reaction. Yes, they are...

Dean: Why?
Sam: Well, for one, they're cassette tapes. And two: Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Metallica?! It's the greatest hits of mullet rock.
Dean: House rules, Sammy. Driver picks the music; shotgun shuts his cake hole.
Sam: You know, Sammy is a chubby twelve-year-old. It's Sam, okay?
Dean: Sorry, can't hear you. The music's too loud.

Dean: Alright, well, if his head position changed, then maybe some other things in the painting changed as well, you know, can give us some clue.
Sam: What, like The Da Vinci Code?

Family Guy's Tom Tucker Moments
I
Tom Tucker: A bit of breaking news. A local family is forced out of their home by ghosts. Who are they gonna call?
Diane Simmons (sighs): Ghostbusters, Tom.
Tom Tucker: No, Diane. Their insurance company. That's just stupid what you said.
II
Diane Simmons: Tom, I'm getting late word that you're a petty, jealous closet-case.
Tom Tucker: Bit of breaking news, we now go live to Diane being a bitch. Diane.
III
Tom Tucker: So, Dustin, it's been a while. I gotta say, you look great.
Dustin Hoffman: [As Ben Braddock] Are you trying to seduce me, Mr. Tucker?
Tom Tucker: I am not tying to seduce you, Dustin Hoffman. You really look great.
Dustin Hoffman: [As Rain Man] Uh oh, 12 minutes to Wapner.
Tom Tucker: Yes, I understand your hectic schedule. Well, Dustin, we really appreciate you taking the time to be with us here at the studio. If there's anything I can ever do for you ...
Dustin Hoffman: [As Captain Hook] Bring me Peter Pan!
Tom Tucker: I'll keep my eye out for him. Thanks, Dustin.

Shall I compare thee to a summers day?
Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day ? Thou art more lovely and more temperate: Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, And summer’s lease hath all too short a date: Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines, And often is his gold complexion dimmed, And every fair from fair sometime declines, By chance, or nature’s changing course untrimmed; But thy eternal...

The Edge of Love
Caitlin MacNamara: My first was Augustus John. He seduced me when I was 15 the old goat. It doesn't mean anything, fucking. It isn't love. I get an itch, it's gotta be scratched. I do it myself when I'm too lazy. Why bother when you can get someone else to do it for you?
Vera Phillips: Nothing to do with love, fucking?
Caitlin MacNamara: Uh-uh. Nothing. Who was your first?
Vera Phillips: [Innocently] What?
Caitlin MacNamara: You don't need to tell me, I know it was Dylan.
Vera Phillips: We were kids. Tent, fire, and a beach blanket.
Caitlin MacNamara: Nice and comfy then.
Vera Phillips: Children, still innocent.
Caitlin MacNamara: We are still innocent, me and Dylan.
Vera Phillips: I only want it as a memory. I don't want it back.
Caitlin MacNamara: Does William know? Don't ever tell him. I can forgive the past, he won't. The past I can forgive.
Vera Phillips: You're warning me.

In Awe
Across the world I saw him laughing. Not a single thing in this world could cause a brain damage like him. I was naive. I let my heart leads me. And now I’m stuck. Nothing I do can seem to erase his face, but for what —-dare I ask myself couple of times.
But for what? Having this feeling. This admiration.
A platonic love would suffice. As long as I can be there for him. Giggling...

Dead Poets Society
I
John Keating: We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman, "O me! O life!... of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless... of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life?" Answer. That you are here - that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. That the powerful play *goes on* and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?
II
John Keating: They're not that different from you, are they? Same haircuts. Full of hormones, just like you. Invincible, just like you feel. The world is their oyster. They believe they're destined for great things, just like many of you, their eyes are full of hope, just like you. Did they wait until it was too late to make from their lives even one iota of what they were capable? Because, you see gentlemen, these boys are now fertilizing daffodils. But if you listen real close, you can hear them whisper their legacy to you. Go on, lean in. Listen, you hear it? - - Carpe - - hear it? - - Carpe, carpe diem, seize the day boys, make your lives extraordinary.

Becoming Jane
I
Tom Lefroy: I have been told there is much to see upon a walk, but all I've detected so far is a general tendency to green above and brown below.
Jane Austen: Yes, well, others have detected more. It is celebrated. There's even a book about Selborne Wood.
Tom Lefroy: Oh. A novel, perhaps?
Jane Austen: Novels? Being poor, insipid things, read by mere women, even, God forbid, written by mere women?.
Tom Lefroy: I see, we're talking of your reading.
Jane Austen: As if the writing of women did not display the greatest powers of mind, knowledge of human nature, the liveliest effusions of wit and humour and the best-chosen language imaginable?
II
Jane Austen: This, by the way, is called a country dance, after the French, contredanse. Not because it is exhibited at an uncouth rural assembly with glutinous pies, execrable Madeira, and truly anarchic dancing.
Tom Lefroy: You judge the company severely, madam.
Jane Austen: I was describing what you'd be thinking.
Tom Lefroy: Allow me to think for myself.
Jane Austen: Gives me leave to do the same, sir, and come to a different conclusion.
